Is this Love?

Quick post tonight guys so I'll just get right to the goods. I'm a little upset with China Glaze Sunset Sail which I used as my base because the day after doing this manicure I noticed some really terrible tip wear which you'll notice below. I love the soft sherbety (< not a word) color and it's a nice contrast to the accent colors I used but that much wear after one day is no bueano. Here's a look a fell in love with from Dressed Up Nails that I watered down a bit.

The colors used are;
Thumb- American Apparel Lopez Canyon
Pointer- Love & Beauty Mint
Middle- OPI Jade is the New Black
Ring- Anise Is this Love?
Pinky- NYC Sidewalkers

Oh and I accidently uploaded a picture of my dog so I left it, mostly because I love her :)

31 Day Challenge-Day 10: Gradient

Don't get me wrong I love a good gradient just as much as the next girl but I wasn't feeling particularly inspired by any color combo so I did something different. I decided to re-do a glitter gradient I'd tried a while back. What do you think?

This glittery gradient consisted of four different glitters: Wet n Wild Kaleidoscope, OPI Crown me Already, China Glaze Fairy Dust, and Orly Shinning Star. For the base I used one very thin coat of OPI Bubble Bath, and finally to help build up the continuity Essie Good as Gold for the tips. All in all I do think it's a very pretty combination, but maybe it's a tad too much for little old me.

Here's the sched:

I finally broke my unused cycle and went with OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and China Glaze Liquid Leather.

See you tomorrow:

31 Day Challenge- Day 4: Green

I decided to post these guys a day early since I posted so late for the Day 3 challenge. I'm loving this ruffian. I wasn't sure how a green on green "reverse ruffian" would look but the shades are so different that I rather like it.

Here I'm using OPI Jade is the New Black for the base, and OPI Stranger Tides for the oval design. I planed on adding little four leaf clovers this the next day but since I'm in the middle of ripping out my kitchen counters, these guys didn't last long enough to bother. Anyone every do any kitchen remodeling? Boy it is tiring stuff!

Blue Wednesday is coming up so stick around:

31 Day Challenge- Day 3: Yellow

The thing about this challenge that I will even come to love or hate is that when you have not choice but to crank out a manicure you may have to do something you wouldn't normally wear. Enter in these yellow daisy nails. Don't get me wrong I like flowers just as much as the next girl but until today I've yet to wear them on my nails. That being said, I happen to think these guys are dang cute.

The colors I used are Revlon Electric for the flower petals, OPI Wooden Shoe Like to Know? for the flower Centers, and Love and Beauty Blue/Mulit for the base. So far I've only used untried polishes for this challenge, so I'll let you know if that continues are not.

Next is green so stay tuned:

31 Day Challenge- Day 2: Orange

For day number two I used OPI Are We There Yet which is a really gorges orange with a shimmery base. This is yet another color I had not got around to trying which is crazy because I really love it.

Even though the orange is a really lovely shade I was bored so I just kind of kept building it up. First with Art Deco's black striping brush. Here I just kind of add random lines and dots to spice up a couple nails. Then once that dried I used Milani's Art of Silver striping brush and traced over the black.

Finally I added a final accent line here and there with Art Deco's White striping brush. I happen to think the white was over kill but I barely wore these guys for a day so I let it slide, this time :)

See you tomorrow folks:

Day 1- 31 Day Challenge

To get the ball rolling on the 31 Day Challenge, I introduce my very first Jelly Sandwich. I have a love hate relationship with all of my glitter polishes so until now, I've never attempted this particular technique even though it's ridiculously popular. It also it ridiculously easy and ridiculously pretty.

To create this effect, I used a OPI Love is a Racket, followed by a liberal layer of Milani Jewel FX Gems, and topped all that off with another layer of Love is a Racket. I've owned both of these colors for quite sometime but this is the first time I've ever got around to using them.

Here's the schedule of again:

Nerd loven'

Hey ladies, hope everyone is having a splendid week thus far. I like some of you find myself back in school so I'd like to share with you what I've been wearing the last two days. This oldy but goody might register to a few of you as Gorramit from the Firefly collection created by the late great Nerdlacquer. This is one of those special colors that speaks for itself. In a bold mustard yellow, Gorramit is jam packed with both fine and chunky glitter in orange and red. I've noticed in the polish community ladies seem a little scared of yellow but how can you not immediately fall in love with this shade? I personally think it's a warm enough color to complement any range of skin tones.

I've been dying to stamp over this bad boy but do to lack of time I decided to complement this vibrant color with the equally fantastic Deutsch You Want Me Baby? from OPI's Germany collection followed by a thin coat of Orly's Shining Star.

Paint Drips

While working at the new house today I remember a really fun post I saw a while back by Very Emily that would be so perfect for the remodeling we're doing right now. Miss Emily is a very talented girl from Belgium   who does lots of reviews, swatches and of course really spectacular nail art. Anyways the post I referring to tonight can be found here.

The colors I used are OPI My Very First Knockwurst, China Glaze First Mate and Essie Loophole. For some reason Loophole doesn't really translate well in these pictures, but it really makes the blobs pop off the base coat.

DS Mystery

I made another clearance score the other day and came away with OPI DS Mystery which has long been on my list of must haves and I just about died when I saw it on the shelf. It's not one of the crazy expensive DS polish out there but I don't really like ordering polish online since I'm too impatient to wait for the damn package to arrive. My poor harassed mail man can attested to that. Anyways I finally got the hang of these glitters from Born Pretty Store, thanks to The Nailasaurus this woman and this tutorial are genius!!

These pictures are pre-filing so next round of pictures these bad boys are going to look like little square chiclets which I must say I like. Until next time people I've got moving to do.

New Meets Old Striping

I did a little shopping this past week and manged to get a few of OPI new Germany collection as well as a few clearance polishes from China Glaze, ULTA, Essie, Zoya and OPI. I'd like to think I'm pretty good about pacing myself when it come to buying new colors but when quality brands go on sale that mindset just goes out the window. To justify these purchases I decided to pick a color combo that would use colors from the clearance and new picks.

For the base I used Essie's Loophole which to me is a dead ringer for No Place Like Chrome, with a price difference of about six bucks thanks to ULTA's sale. Next I used OPI's Schnapps Out of It! on top of striping tape to make the strip pattern. I really like this color duo because Schnapps Out of It! has a silver shimmer that is only noticeable in certain lights, it's also dark enough to really set off the silver. The other colors I manged to snag where Zoya Kendal, ULTA Heirhead, OPI Stranger Tides and China Glaze Westside Warrior.

Update

This is the result of wanting to paint my nails, but still really liking my old manicure. While browsing through Pintrest a while back I came across this and knew I just had to try it. So this is the result. I used OPI's Thanks a Windmillion, Wet n Wild's Night Prowl and some good ol' painters tape.

Do I love it? No. Will I keep it for the rest of the day? Probably. Until next time peeps, hopefully I'll have better luck.

Purple Swirl

So aside from a lovely manicure I've got some fun news. Not only did I finally finish with yet another summer class, I found out I was one of the lucky winner of Anise's Pinterest competition! I was trying to think of the last time I've ever won anything and not one thing came to mind so there you go, I guess I was long over due.  The prize is  Anise's entire collection for the year as they are released. So far this year they have released their summer collection which you can check out here, and they will soon be releasing their fall collection which can be found here. You guys can pick up these guys at your local DSW. Alright, alright, alright let us get down to business.

I love this really sheer pink by OPI called Bubble Bath even though it needed way too many coats in my opinion. It is a sheer polish though so I guess I should have known better. I topped the pink off with Konad Purple and a thin coat of China Glaze's Fairy Dust. Now I'm off to bed people. Good Night.
